Canadian Spirit Resources Inc. Announces Gething Capital Program With Shell Canada

By: marketwire

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 25, 2008) - Canadian Spirit Resources Inc. ("CSRI" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SPI) (PINK SHEETS:CSPUF) announces receipt of a drilling licence for the first of up to five wells targeting the Gething Formation. Pursuant to the previously announced joint venture (see News Release dated July 17, 2008), Shell Canada Energy ("Shell Canada"), as Operator, will be drilling these wells for the benefit of the joint venture. It is expected that the first well will be spud in September.

These five wells, along with one deep water disposal well, form part of the initial capital program that Shell Canada will be conducting. This capital program is intended to advance the development of the Gething Formation in the Farrell Creek area of northeast British Columbia. Shell Canada holds approximately 95 sections of petroleum and natural gas rights to base of the Cadomin/Nikanassin Formation ("Shallow Rights") and CSRI holds approximately 50 sections of contiguous Shallow Rights in the area. Upon completion of the pilot expansion commitment, Shell Canada may elect to proceed with pooling of the respective regional Shallow Rights holdings. Such pooling will create a large contiguous land base of approximately 145 sections or 92,800 acres (over 36 sections net to CSRI) of Shallow Rights.

CSRI is a natural resources company focusing on the identification and development of opportunities in the unconventional gas sector of the energy industry. The mission of the Company is to develop 1 tcf of natural gas from unconventional resource plays in western Canada. Through two joint ventures, the Company is currently evaluating the productive capability of both its shallow Gething play (Shell Canada as Operator) and its deeper Montney play (Canbriam Energy Inc. as Operator - see News Release dated March 19, 2008). Both of these plays are located on the Company's principal resource property at Farrell Creek, British Columbia.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,
